FENTON CHAPTER NEWS

  February/March, 2007

Meeting Notice

The next membership meeting will be April 10th at 7:00PM for pot luck dinner and 7:30PM for the meeting. Our January meeting went very well. As usual the home made food was super. We had a very full meeting with many issues discussed.

 Archery Program

Dennis Turner wants to get a program going. There is one detail though, and that is 'equipment'. He is asking if anyone can donate anything. At this point he is starting from scratch so do you have any thing to loan or donate?  Please call him, his phone number is listed in the section on Officers and Directors.

Memorial Day Weekend

Get the camping "Up North feeling just south of Fenton" at the 2nd annual IWLA family campout at the club, May 25th-28th. Bring your camper, tents, volleyball nets etc. We will have campfires, sing-a-longs, horseshoes. Plan for a pot-luck dinner on Saturday the 27th so we can share at least one dinner together as a group. Please bring your camping partners as guests, maybe they will join!

Grand Rapids Banquet

Once again this event put on by our sister chapter was stellar to say the least! The guest speaker Andy Buchsbaum had some chilling facts on the threatening condition of our Great Lakes.

Property Issue

The fight goes on to preserve what rightfully belongs to the Chapter. When the Chapter purchased this property back in  the forties. The Fenton Ikes were formed by the Chapter members only to put the title in a different name. The fact remains the Chapter bought the property. We need to continue and pursue the purpose of the league.

07' Kids Fishing Derby

This years derby was a huge success! We had 88 kids 14 and under fishing. The largest, smallest, and the most fish awards were some large trophies. There were 48 kids and adults 15 and over in the adult contest. What a great day....

Member Efforts

The letter that Dennis Turner and Kenny Rogers sent to all the Chapters around the Country has been very helpful with monetary support.  It is very true we have much strength in numbers we all need to stick together. If you have any friends tell them what we have to offer. Especially if they have children to raise and want to enjoy the outdoors.

Fund Raisers Needed

Carol Dyer has a great idea we could all help out with. That is a "I.W.L.A. Cookbook" of your favorite or maybe your second favorite recipes. She has done this with her church with great success. All we have to do is get her the recipe and she will do the rest. The idea is to sell them.

Buildings and Grounds

May 5th, 2007 starting at 8:00 am will be our spring club clean-up day. Come on out and pitch in. There's always something to do for everyone. When we all pitch in together the work does not seem as bad and you will sure feel better about your club. We are going to widen the floating dock and extend it. The floating doci is favored by many to fish off or just relax on.

If anyone has access to some new sliding doors for the back of the clujbhouse we do need some. Also we need to install some new windows, know where we can get some?

There is much interest to build a small lean-to over our clay trap also. So as you can see there is plenty of projects.

The pile of wood chips still needs to be put somewhere. Got any ideas, come on out to the meeting and lets figure out where to put them.

Ladies Day

May 6th, 2007,  Sunday  2-5pm. Bring your kids if you want. We will be having a P.J. party, movie, snacks, pop.  We will also do a bingo or a raffle. We will be having a silent bid on an item to be announced later.

Dues are Due
Boat rack Also

Please send in your membereship dues as soon as you can! We are all Volunteers and it makes the bookwork less work. Also if you want to keep your boat rack spot get your $30 sent to Allen Murray.  The "gate comm." has been changed to get your dues paid! Bill Dyer will print the new 'comm. ' on your membership card. If you have paid your dues and need the number, call Bill Dyer (your membership secretary). The annual Boat Sales is on and it's on a first come basis. Allen Murry had the Ledger so get with him right away!

Cheer Raffle

This cooler of cheer raffle was a GREAT fund raiser. We cleared over $2,000 which will really help our cause.

Misc.
The spring fishing school will be determined by the response. Call Ken Rogers today!

The 2007 fishing trip is being set up by Kenny Rogers. The opening we have is June 23rd. It's $100 per person and we have to be paid by April 16th. Call Ken!!!

Michigan Division - we need to have a new President and a new Vice President. These offices are very important and need some new blood. Get involved. Our Great Lakes and all that we stand for needs you!
